They are a turned-outward way to authentically engage members of the community; they generate Public Knowledge that can then be used to inform decision-making of all kinds.
Engage the community to understand people’s aspirations for the community, their concerns, how people think and talk about a given issue in relation to the community. The changes needed to reach our aspirations for the community.

We throughout government need to begin evoking the historical responsibility we have to communities of color and HASTEN programs that put money, land, resources back into the hands of communities who had those lands, labor and resources stolen from them. I know we are choir here but that conversation with those development city representatives was truly irksome and I think we see repeats of that across the country time and time again.
